Upheaval within the State Republican is continuing as former State GOP Chairman Randy Ruedrich says Debbie Brown of Kasilof has succeeded him. Brown was elected vice chair during a boisterous state convention last year.
Russ Millette of Anchorage was elected chairman and set to take office last Friday, but party leaders voted late Thursday to oust him.
A complaint filed against Millette raised questions about Millette’s work as the party’s finance chairman, his affiliation with a political website and his claim to be a lifelong Republican.
Ruedrich said a complaint against Brown was dismissed.
Party officials plan to meet this Saturday in Juneau to choose a new vice chair, Ruedrich, however, believes that Millette may also appeal his ouster.
Ruedrich says three other pending complaints, including one against him, are scheduled to be taken up Saturday.
