Extended Unemployment Benefits End as Insured Unemployment Falls

Good news for Alaskan job-seekers, Alaska’s insured unemployment rate fell below 6 percent. However, that mark also automatically ends the federally funded Extended Benefits, State Supplemental Benefits and Emergency Unemployment Compensation Tier 4 benefits on May 4.

According to the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, unemployed workers with EUC Tier 4 claims established prior to May 4 may continue to draw remaining balances until they are exhausted, or through the week ending December 28, whichever occurs first.

If you have been receiving these benefits, the Department will be sending out instructions, highlighting work search requirements which will be in effect for all individuals claiming EUC benefits.
