Equipment Violation Leads Drug Arrest in Homer

Friday May 3rd, at 4:45pm, the Alaska State Troopers performed a traffic stop on a vehicle near mile 169 of the Sterling Highway for an equipment violation.

Trooper investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Samuel Reece of Homer, was driving under the influence of synthetic marijuana, known as Spice.

Reece was also found to be in possession of marijuana and methamphetamine.

Further investigation revealed the passenger in the vehicle 22-year-old Christopher Derr of Anchor Point was in possession of marijuana and in violation of his court ordered conditions of probation.

Both were arrested and held at the Homer Jail without bond.
