The public has until March 19th to comment on the current request by Enstar Natural Gas to allow a temporary increase to its base rate for customers by one percent. The one percent increase would be in effect while the Regulatory Commission of Alaska continues to consider a larger increase to Enstar’s base rate. Enstar Natural Gas spokesperson John Sims spoke to us Thursday afternoon about the company’s latest RCA request.

Sims said the 2009 base rate request to the RCA, that still has not been approved, would increase a residential bill by approximately 4.7 percent. Sims stated that Enstar Natural Gas needs to increase this base rate due to the increased cost of doing business.

Sims on base rate increase 2……….
If the RCA doesn’t approve the 4.7 percent base rate increase, originally requested in 2009, then this temporary one percent base rate increase would be refunded to all Enstar customers. The Regulatory Commission of Alaska is asking for public comments on the temporary base rate increase until March 19th. Comments can be submitted to the website for the RCA at:
https://rca.alaska.gov/RCAWeb/WhatsNew/PublicNoticesComments.aspx
The RCA asks comments to reference TA-185-4 in the subject line of the comments and include a statement that comments have been filed with Enstar at rates.planning@enstarnaturalgas.com.
I oppose the request by Enstar for a 1% rate increase prior to a decision for a larger increase. They should wait as all other consumers wait, for what they think they must have. This will place an unnecessary burden on many who are struggling with meeting personal household expenses this winter. This refers to TA-185-4.
Since the ruling against Enstar regarding their over charging the military, they figure the end around is to raise rates to cover the cost of the judgement against them. They are unethical and a poor corporate citizen. They are not to be trusted.
If I had a dollar for each time I came to radiokenai.net.. Incredible article!
If only more than 23 people would hear about this..
If only I had a greenback for each time I came to radiokenai.net! Great article.
