Enstar Discusses Current Gas Supply

6/30/2010

Yesterday, Enstar’s John Simms updated the Soldotna Chamber Luncheon’s audience on the status of natural gas supply for the upcoming years.  He showed everyone that Enstar currently had enough of a natural gas supply for 2010; however, that changes next year with a small shortfall.

He said there has been some discussion about purchasing LNG for a supply.  Simms said that is the least desirable option for the purchase of natural gas.  Simms did say that Enstar does have a new contract with  Marathon for 2011 and 2012.  He explained how it works.

He said this contract is different as opposed to previous contracts because it has a combination of two prices for the gas.  One is for the base load of natural gas to Enstar.  The second price is based on the cost to deliver the natural gas to Enstar.  This price goes up in the winter, when the demand for natural gas also goes up.  The exact details for this contract are available at below, along with details about the current Enstar natural gas supply into the future.
