The Southern Kenai Peninsula communities of Homer and Kachemak City are continuing their process of bringing natural gas services to the two southern peninsula cities. We spoke to John Sims with Enstar…
Sims: “Things are moving along pretty quick, we’ve got a construction office in the City of Homer now, where we’re starting to gather office equipment and get prepared for constitution here in the month of February.”
As we reported, the two communities are looking at the possibility of a $13 million loan from the borough for the project infrastructure, Sims did confirm to us, that all pipe in the ground will however be owned by Enstar..
Sims: “We do this all over our system, it’s called a Special Assessment District, they do that in the borough, Kenai Peninsula Borough, quite often they do that in the Mat-Su Borough, in the form of a Local Improvement District, or LID. So the City of Homer has simply adopted the same kind of process that has been in place for quite some time.”
