Ellery Steffensen Claims Wrestling State Title

Kenai Kardinal wrestler Ellery Steffensen defeated all challengers in-route-to the state championship at 138 pounds at the 2013 ASAA 4A State Wrestling Championships at Bartlett high School.


Wrestlers from Kenai Central High School and Soldotna High School competed at the large-school wrestling championships.  In addition to Ellery’s title run, Hope Steffensen, from KCHS, finished sixth overall at 106-pounds.  Kenai’s Dylan Carter and Matt Aho ended-up wrestling each other in the consolation bracket, with Carter taking the match 11-8.  For the Soldotna Stars, John Alexander finished fourth at 285 pounds; SoHi’s Troy Streiff fell in the quarterfinal match.
