Drivers Identified in Fatal Spur Crash that Closed Highway

Alaska State Troopers say one driver was killed in Saturday’s accident which closed the Kenai Spur Highway at Mile 19.

 

Investigation revealed 52-year-old Dawn Mysing of Kenai was driving a black 2010 Lincoln Navigator southbound when it struck a maroon 2006 Ford pickup driven by 70-year-old Ronald Ayhens of Kenai.

 

Mysing suffered serious injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

 

Ayhens was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

 

Troopers wrote, “it is unclear at this point if alcohol or drugs were involved” in the accident. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

 

The two vehicles involved were deemed total losses.

 

The Alaska State Troopers continue to investigate.
