Three highway projects on the Kenai Peninsula remain in this last portion of the 2014 construction season.

Shannon McCarthy with the Department of Transportation said most road improvement jobs seen this summer will completely wrap up this year, except one.

McCarthy: “We are wrapping up all of our projects with the exception of the Sterling Highway mile 174 to 179 because that’s actually a two year project, so that will start back up again.”

That project is located in Homer on East End Road from Kachemak Drive to Waterman Road where drivers can still expect lane restrictions, flagging personnel, and pilot car operations from 8:00am to 6:00 pm Monday through Sunday.

The Homer Spit improvements are also continuing this week, with intermittent single-lane traffic Sunday through Thursday from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am.

And the Sterling Highway slow vehicle turnouts project from Ninilchik to Anchor Point are ongoing also with lane restrictions, flagging personnel, and short delays Monday through Saturday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
