DOT Continuing Signal Upgrades for the Central Peninsula

The State Department of Transportation is planning upgrades to traffic signals for the local area. We spoke to Scott Thomas a DOT project engineer who outlined the new traffic signal upgrades, which will include the flashing yellow arrow signals that were implemented in parts of Anchorage last year…

Thomas: “We will be putting out some information on how the flashing yellow works, we do have some of it posted on the internet on how it’s simulated. This is very much out of the drivers manual, the driver’s test, the flashing yellow arrow is turn with caution, and always have been.”

Thomas also noted that a new traffic signal will be installed at Birch Street and the Sterling Highway.

Such upgrades will take place in though this year and next.
