Forestry Asks Campers to Be Fire Safe

The State Division of Forestry is reminding people to be careful with campfires, as a number have recently required the assistance of firefighters.

The Division encourages campers to check with landowners or managers for information about local regulations. Campfires should only be built in areas where they cannot escape.

They also ask people to keep tools and water on hand to extinguish fires, and to stir ashes with a shovel or stick to expose embers while drowning them with water.
