Mining, specifically at the proposed Pebble Mine, is scheduled to be a part of discussions, beginning later this year. The Colorado-based Keystone Center, contracted by the Pebble Partnership to develop and carry out an independent science panel process, says it is poised to launch a series of independent science panels that Keystone says would help Alaskans evaluate the environmental and socioeconomic studies associated with the proposed Pebble Mine near Illiamna.
The Keystone center’s discussions are scheduled to start on December 3rd with a daylong panel focused on responsible large-scale mining. Keystone says this panel would include international experts in the fields of engineering, geology, ecology, and anthropology. Keystone says these experts represent the mining industry, academic institutions and non-governmental conservation organizations.
These science panels would occur on the University of Alaska campus, and would be open to the public. A live-web-stream will also be available on the Keystone Center’s website.

Well To be Honest here, I don’t Know Who is Right & Who is Wrong on this issue.
What I DO Know, The Corporate History of the Pebble Mine Owners will help me to decide
IF these people can be trusted ? Their previous history with environmental issues & clean-up & what happened to the local residents at previous mining projects ?
Yes the Kenai Peninsula needs the additional Local Employment, Wages, Benefits, additional Tax Base BUT Not at the expense of permanent Toxic Chemicals that will poison
Alaska.
