The first part of a three day official grand opening of the Denai’ina Wellness Center in Kenai will begin today.
Executive Director Jaylene Peterson-Nylen told us about the first event.
Peterson-Nylen: “I would like to invite the community to a grand opening ceremony on Thursday, June 12 at 5:00 pm. Please join us for blessings, words of thanks, special music, dance food and a Denai’ina cloth ceremony as we honor our many supporters.”
The construction on the 52,000 square foot, two-story Wellness Center began in 2012 and the building now hosts dental, primary care, and health services.
Friday evening the center will host a cultural night. Kenaitze performers, an artistic installation from Joel Isaak and a potluck.
On Saturday at 3pm, the Kenaitze Indian Tribe is opening up their Educational Fishery site at the end of Cannery Road for family activities and a potluck.
