Crews Battle Fully Involved Residential Fire in Sterling

Crews with Central Emergency Services were busy early this morning fighting a house fire in the Sterling Area. CES Safety Officer Brad Nelson…

Nelson: “Between 3:00am and 3:15am we got dispatched out to Self Street, which is near mile 85 in Sterling for the report of a structure fire.  The first unit was on scene in about 4-minutes, and observed a 500-square foot residence that was fully involved in fire activity. It was confirmed that the occupants had gotten out of the house and were uninjured. They did a quick attack on it and were able to get it out in a little less than 15-minutes. Most of the exterior walls were saved, but the place is going to be considered a total loss, the roof and interior just had too much fire and smoke damage prior to us getting there.”

Nelson said that further investigation showed the area of origin of the fire to be in the kitchen area.  The cause is unknown and the investigation is continuing.
