Complicated Nikiski Crash Resulted in Only Minor Injuries

An accident in Nikiski today looked much more serious than it was, according to Megan Peters with the Alaska State Troopers…

Peters: “Around noon today, there was a single-vehicle wreck at mile 19 of the Spur Hwy. The driver of the vehicle had minor injuries, and there was a passenger there. It really wasn’t a big collision  however, the passenger in the vehicle was very agitated and not very cooperative with law enforcement, and because of the confrontation on scene, the ambulance was staged a distance away from the actual wreck, which probably made it look like a bigger incident than it actually way. But everything was under control. The person with the minor injuries was transported (to hospital) and I’m not sure if they’ve been released or not.”

The driver was identified as 37-year-old Tracy Roney of Kenai. He was issued a citation for failing to exercise due care to avoid a collision. Peters said his vehicle simple ran off the road, due to driver inattention.
