City of Soldotna Working to Expand Soldotna Airport

The City of Soldotna is working on a large scale project at the city’s airport off of Funny River road. We got details on the project from Soldotna City Engineer Kyle Kornelis…

Kornelis: “We have an apron expansion project, primarily funded though the FAA though a grant process. Essentially we’re expanding the apron area; it will accommodate more lease areas and tie down areas, a little bit of asphalt work and new striping and paint on the runway.”

Kornelis said that once completed, there will be a major benefit to Soldotna Airport users…

Kornelis: “It will allow for more lease lots, which in turn, hopefully, will be more hangers and just more use at the hangers. Just more use at the airport.”
