City of Soldotna Seeing Success Amid Changing State Budget Climate

As we’ve mentioned, Governor Sean Parnell will address a joint Kenai/Soldotna Chamber Luncheon today and one topic, according to the Governor’s office, will be the state’s budget, as Parnell has announced his plans for a five year fiscal plan.

We recently spoke to Soldotna City Manager Mark Dixson about the state funds coming to the city of Soldotna during his first year with the city…

Dixson: “I think it went very well, we have great partners down here, not only in Representative Olson who was here tonight[Wednesday 5/22/13], but Senator Micciche, Senator Giessel, Representative Seaton, Senator Myer’s office out of Anchorage, all of them were more than willing to sit down and talk to us, listen to what our concerns were, it was a great process for us.”

Dixson said that there was a lot of credit due to City Engineer Kyle Kornelis…

Dixson: “They [capital projects] primarily developed though our City Engineer Kyle Kornelis, he is in charge of developing and implementing our capital projects.”
