City of Kenai Preparing for Commercial Fishing Season

The Kenai City Council Wednesday night, approved a contract agreement with Copper River Seafood’s for the upcoming commercial fishing season in the Upper Cook Inlet. We spoke to Kenai City Manager Rick Koch about the contract

Koch: “We have, at least since I’ve been here, Copper River Seafood has leased two of the cranes on our docks for taking salmon from the fishing boats that come in. This extends that relationship for another year. Next year, we’ll go out to bid and see if there is any other interest in that. This permit will allow them to have certainty that they’ll have cranes for this fishing season.”
