City of Kenai Expanding Water Restrictions

The City of Kenai has expanded its restrictions on residential water usage.

The city’s public works department said due to increased usage in the past weeks, the City has been unable to fill the reservoir to full capacity.  As a result, the city is restricting watering lawns to only one day per week, Sundays.

Kenai residents are asked to please resume full Water Conservation measures on all other days of the week, including Wednesday.   On Sundays, please use water judiciously, by watering in the early morning or evening hours, when the sun will not cause a high percentage of the water to evaporate.

The City asks that residents continue to assist by restricting other unnecessary activities that require the use of water.  These activities include, but are not limited to, washing cars, and washing exterior surfaces such as siding, driveways, and sidewalks.  In addition, the City suggests employing conservation methods such as not letting faucets run continuously and operating dishwashers and/or washing machines only when full.
