Choose Respect rallies will be held tomorrow in communities across the state.
Governor Sean Parnell said that as residents of this great state, we want Alaska to be a place where people can live free of fear, and where no child, woman, or man is violated.
Four years ago, 18 communities joined together in the first annual Choose Respect march and rally to stand up against the epidemic of domestic violence and sexual assault, this year, more than 140 Alaskan communities have pledged to participate.
The marches will happen, statewide, at Noon, and locally, the event will be held in Kenai. The march will begin at the Leif Hansen Memorial Clock Tower and travel towards the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center.
Parnell said that this is the human rights issue of our time in Alaska, saying that we must end the violence that so often divides our families and communities.
