Tuesday night, the state house adjourned without approving a bill to keep the coastal management program afloat. House Speaker Mike Chenault said that the decision was made once the legislature got back to the state’s capital.

Chenault said that if the legislature was to expand the program, it would have caused more damage than letting it expire.
