The Homer Electric Association held their annual meeting Wednesday night in Kenai. HEA’s Joe Gallagher told us that part of the meeting included the announcement of results from the HEA Board of Directors election…
Gallagher: “At the HEA member ship meeting, the results of the director’s election were announced. In District 1, which is basically the Kenai/Nikiski area, Dan Chay received 651 votes and Glenese Pettey garnered 420 votes. In District 2, which represents the Soldotna and Sterling area basically, Ed Oberts was the winner, Mr. Oberts received 569 votes, Mike Swan had 390 votes, Barbara Blakeley had 330 votes, and Jackie Ray Morrell finished with 65 votes. In District 3 which is Kasilof south to the Kachemak Bay area, Homer resident Bill Fry was the winner. Mr. Fry received 1,060 votes and Kris Lethin of Seldovia had 377 votes.”
Following the Annual Meeting, the HEA Board of Directors met to elect officers for the upcoming year.
Dick Waisanen of Soldotna was selected to serve as President, Bill Fry of Homer was named Vice-President, David Thomas of Kenai was named Secretary/Treasurer and Jim Levine of Homer will be the Deputy Secretary.
The Annual Meeting drew a large crowd with approximately 450 people attending the event at the Kenai Central High School.
