Major changes came to the Alaska Republican Party, this weekend, at its convention.  Supporters of Ron Paul made their presence known by disrupting the convention and showing their strength in numbers by getting their candidate elected as the new Chairman of the party.

Long-time Republican Chairman Randy Ruedrich chose, prior to the convention, not to seek another term.  That opened the door for Ron Paul supporter Russ Millette to be elected the Chairman-elect and Debbie Brown, of Kasilof, to be elected Vice-Chair-elect.

Those at the convention report that it was a disruptive one, at times, that included Ron Paul supporters “booing” during a speech by Mitt Romney-supporter John Barusso from Wyoming.

His speech was recorded by one of the delegates at the convention and posted on You Tube.  The disruption, on Friday night, by Ron Paul supporters even kept U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski from speaking in support of Romney on that evening.  However, she did return on Saturday night to give her speech in front of the delegates.
