Chambers to Hear From U.S. House Candidates

The Kenai and Soldotna Chambers of Commerce will hear tomorrow from the candidates hoping to unseat U.S. Representatives Don Young.

Michelle Glaves with the Soldotna Chamber said an RSVP is required…

Glaves: “We have a joint luncheon will be tomorrow, we don’t have luncheon today. We’ll have a joint luncheon with Kenai tomorrow and it will be in Kenai and it is U.S. House candidates and all candidates are confirmed, but Congressman Young. He is still in Washington. So we will hear from everyone else tomorrow.”

While Rep. Young won’t be there, at least two of his rivals will be: John Cox and David Seaward. According to the Kenai Chamber website, the third candidate on the August Primary ballot for Republicans, David Dohner, hasn’t yet replied.

For Democrats, Forrest Dunbar will be there, while Frank Vondersaar declined.

Libertarian Jim McDermott also declined the invitation.

Actually, Don Young is not in DC. He had a fundraiser today in Fairbanks, and is having another tomorrow night in Anchorage:

He’s not showing up to this because he doesn’t show up to debates, and he doesn’t care about this event.
