CES Investigating Possible Arson Case in Soldotna

Crews with Central Emergency Services are investigating a possible case of arson in downtown Soldotna from this past weekend. We spoke to CES Safety officer Brad Nelson

Nelson: “About 1:45 pm on Sunday, CES got a call about a structure fire at a residence behind the Pour House on the Sterling Highway in Soldotna. Engine 1 from our station right here in Soldotna, arrived in 2 minutes and found a residence with a fire that was already put out by bystanders. We went up there and searched and made sure that the fire was completely out,  it did catch a little bit of the exterior wall on fire, insured it was out.”

Nelson said the structure was currently inhabited, however, the renter is in the process of moving out. The fire was called in by an employee of the nearby Pour House.

Crews are also investigating this case as a possible arson

Nelson: “Did an investigation, and found that some body had put garbage on the outside wall and ignited that garbage. So in cooperation with the Soldotna Police Department and the investigators, we are doing an investigation into this, and the investigation does continue at this time.”
