Central Peninsula Reaches 19 Hours Daylight in Solstice

The National Weather Service is reporting that Barrow and surrounding areas will see 24 hours of daylight today, since June 20 is the official summer solstice this year.


Cities throughout the state are reaching their peak number of sunlight hours, with Central Peninsula communities clocking in a few minutes over 19 hours. Homer, to the south, is reaching 18:44 hours of light.

Kotzebue – 24:00 hours

Nome – 21:30

Anchorage – 19:21

Juneau- 18:18

Dutch Harbor – 17:08
