NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service is extending the comment period for the interim final rule to reduce commercial fishing for groundfish stocks in the Aleutian Islands.  The original public comment period for the interim final rule was scheduled to end tomorrow.  However, NOAA feels more time is necessary.  Julie Speegle of NOAA spoke to us this morning.

 They received several requests for the extension from various stakeholders to extend it.  She also explained the purpose for this interim rule.
