City Council Interviewing Applicants

By a narrow margin, Meggean Bos was elected to Soldotna City Council Seat B instead of Dave Carey, but the pair may now become colleagues. Two seats on the Council are open, as John Czarneski moves to a new position with the City’s Planning and Zoning Department and Dale Bagley was elected to the Borough Assembly.

There are four applicants for the seats: Paul Whitney also ran unsuccessfully in the last election, Rotarian Tom Janz, and former Borough Assembly President Linda Murphy, who was unseated by Dale Bagley.

Bagley said he’d prefer to see Council members chosen by voters, but…

Bagley: “You know, you didn’t know until the elections, so it’s just the way it is, and they’ll serve out the rest of this year and then run for a one year term to fill the remainder of my seat.”

The City Council will interview the applicants at tomorrow night’s meeting.
