Bug Spray Supplies in Alaska Exhausted

If you’ve been heading out camping lately and found it difficult to find bug spray, you’re not alone. Statewide, mosquitoes are anecdotally worse than they’ve been in years, and stores are finding it hard to keep bug spray in stock. We spoke to Marilyn Denney, Assistant Manager at Three Bears in Kenai…

Denney: “We do have some, luckily. The state is, our local distributors are all sold out, and we’re trying to get some from the Lower 48. I can tell you that it’s going quickly, so if you need some, better get some now.”

Denney said products with DEET in them are the most popular.

You can get insect repellent lotion with 29.55 percent Deet at the AK Secondhand store. That’s the little second hand store at Mile 102 on the Sterling Hwy., out by TJ Seggy’s. The store is usually open afternoons and evenings.
