As of 9:00am yesterday morning, the State Forestry office on the Kenai Peninsula has put a burn suspension back into effect due to the warm dry weather.
Darren Finley, Fire Prevention Officer said that although the suspension is in effect…
Finley: “Campfires are still permitted for cooking and warming, but need to be kept to 3′x3′ in size. Please be cautious with the wind, as it can easily spread your campfire, before you leave, make sure it’s dead out. With our current conditions, fires are burning deeper than you would expect, so please us water and a tool for complete extinguishment.”
Finley said that this suspension includes the use of burn barrels.
