Burn Permits Are Required April 1

It’s that time of year again, and starting April 1, the Alaska Division of Forestry is requiring burn permits for all burning of brush, grass, slash and yard debris.

The Division of Forestry is offering some permits online, we spoke to the Division’s Sharon Roesch…

Roesch: “Those permits that you can get online are for small piles only, basically hand-fed piles in a dirt area, free from duff, certainly in the spring free from cured grass and you’re required to be onsite until it’s out and have some form of suppression. You don’t want to let it burn, leave it, go to work, whatever, that’s illegal.”
