Brown Bears Split Final Road Series: Ice Dogs Earn ERA Cup

The Kenai River Brown Bears split a pair of games in Fairbanks against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs to close-out the regular season.

The Brown Bears defeated Fairbanks on Friday night at the Big Dipper Arena 4-3 with two goals by Ryan Walker and single goals for Matt Siedel and Zac Lazzaro.  The Brown Bears scored two goals in the third period for the victory.  On Saturday, Kenai River fell 3-2 with goals by Chris Noth and Alec Butcher.

The Brown Bears and the Ice Dogs split the regular season with each team winning eight games.  The Fairbanks club wins the ERA Cup Series by virtue of a point total tie-breaker.  A pair of the Brown Bears victories over the Ice Dogs were in overtime; that awards a point to the losing team, thus the Ice Dogs have more total points and the ERA Cup.

West Division Playoffs

The Kenai River Brown Bears finish the regular season in third place in the West Division and will open the playoffs in Fairbanks against the #2 seed Fairbanks.  The Wenachee Wild earn the top seed in the West and will play Fresno.

The West Division first-round playoffs are best of five game series; with the top seed hosting three games.

Game one of Kenai River vs Fairbanks is scheduled for April 12 in Fairbanks.
