Further Details Known About Wal-Mart Shooting

At roughly 7:10 pm Friday evening the Kenai Police Department received multiple 911 calls in regard to a shooting that occurred at Walmart in Kenai.


The suspect reportedly shot at an occupied vehicle in the Walmart parking lot, the shooter was reported to be a female that left the scene in a red Ford focus.


Officers responded and a short time later located the suspects vehicle at a Kenai residence, she was determined to be 27 year old Ashley Nelund of Sterling, following investigation led to the arrest of Nelund on charges of Attempted Murder in the 1st degree, Attempted Assault in the 1st  degree, and Misconduct Involving Weapons in the 2nd degree.


The vehicle that was shot at reportedly left the scene prior to police arrival, neither the vehicle or its driver have been located, however, the passenger of that vehicle, a 17 year old male, has been contacted by police.


No injuries have been reported as a result of the shooting and investigation is still ongoing.
