Borough Mayor Dave Carey has named Susan Wilcox as his new Chief of Staff.  Carey said the appointment would begin on July 1^st.  On that same day, Acting Chief of Staff Duane Bannock will return to the Spruce Bark Beetle Program as the Manager. 

Wilcox has served as the Special Assistant to Borough Mayor Carey since he took office.  Carey, in a written release, said that Wilcox’s experience and knowledge would allow for merging of some duties and responsibilities within the Borough Mayor’s Office.  Carey said that Wilcox brings knowledge of the Borough operations and governmental processes to the Chief of Staff position.  Her previous experience has included employment at the City of Kenai, City of Soldotna, Unocal Alaska Resources, Central Peninsula General Hospital and the Kenai Peninsula Borough.

Carey also named a new Special Assistant.  She is Amy Manuel, who is currently employed at Central Peninsula General Hospital, and was a previous business owner in Soldotna.  Carey said her duties would include research and information dissemination regarding the newly formed Federal Citizen’s Advisory Council.  She would also be assisting Mayor Carey with various presentations, including the Oil and Gas Conference in September.  Manuel’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree from Radford University in Journalism and Public Relations.

Carey has also named Jessica Arness to the position of Administrative Assistant.  He said Arness was previously employed by the Kenai Convention and Visitor’s Bureau as the Director of Marketing and Membership.  She has a Bachelor’s Degree from Southern Oregon University in Human Communications.
