The Borough Assembly has been brought up to date by Borough Mayor Dave Carey on his intention to create a task force to deal with the future governance of Central Peninsula Hospital.  On Monday, Carey presented his idea to the service area board for the hospital.  Tuesday afternoon, it was the Assembly’s turn in Homer.  He was asked to discuss the item once again, last night.

Carey said he would add an additional three members from the public.  Carey stated that he had already received requests from the public to be on this proposed task force.  So, he is now looking for a fair way to select those three through a drawing.

Carey said the duration of the task force would be one-year, with the first meeting this fall.  Carey has previously stated that he would like to have the task force study the information obtained during the recent discussion into future governance and ownership.  Another goal of the task force would be to consider the creation of a commission.
