Body Recovered in Kenai River

A man’s body was recovered from the Kenai River on Monday afternoon. Kenai Fire Chief Mike Tilly said that the Kenai Fire Department and Kenai Police Department were dispatched at 2:37 p.m., to the VIP area of the Kenai River. The man reporting the discovery told the Kenai Fire Department that the body wore pants, no shirt and matched the description of Robert Smithwick. Smithwick was reported missing near Eagle Rock earlier this summer. Tilly said the body was recovered on Sunday between Kenai Landing and the Kenai River Bridge.
