The body of an Anchorage woman missing since early Tuesday has been recovered from the rocks near Mile 108 of the Seward Highway. 58-year-old Martha Levensaler’s body was found by Alaska Railroad workers, near the water’s edge. The State Medical Examiner’s office is still conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Levensaler was reported missing yesterday by her husband, Richard Lefebvre. Lefebvre said his wife was “despondent” and nowhere to be seen, though he located her Honda CR-V sport-utility vehicle parked at the Beluga Point pullout at Mile 110.
Lefebvre was worried when his wife wasn’t returning messages, missed an appointment and didn’t check in with work.
Troopers say a helicopter search team flew from Mile 105-113 of the Seward Highway, without success.
