The filing period for the upcoming municipal election in Kenai opened today, and there are already two declared candidates seeking the office of Mayor.

Molloy: “I do plan to take out a petition to be a candidate for election for Mayor, City of Kenai, at this upcoming October 1st election.

Current Kenai City Council member Bob Molloy told us that he had been approached by a group of Kenai citizens, as well as, business owners asking him to seek the office.

Molloy: “You know, I’ve been serving on the council for 8-years now, 31-year city resident, 32-year small business owner, I think that its time for new leadership, and new leadership in the position of mayor in the City of Kenai. I think that I’m well qualified to take on that challenge.”

Kenai Mayor Pat Porter has also confirmed to the KSRM News Department that she will seek re-election to the office as well.
