Bear Resistant Containers Still Available

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game says bear-resistant containers are still available. With the ongoing issues with brown bear sightings, Lewis Lewis, of the Division of Wildlife for Fish and Game, says residents of Kenai, Soldotna, Seward, Homer, Hope, Moose Pass and Cooper Landing can obtain bear-resistant garbage containers at a reduced price.

He said the lower price is available due to grant funding. He emphasized that the funding was not permanent. Lewis said, eventually, the subsidy will run out and the residents may not be able to obtain them at the reduced price. Lewis also described his efforts to remove the bear problem in Kenai on Monday.
