BBB Warns: Look Before You Donate

With thousands devastated by Typhoon Haiyan, the Better Business Bureau is urging some caution before donation.

The BBB says scammers often take advantage of the confusion surrounding natural disaster. Tyler Andrew, CEO of BBB serving Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington, says people should research charities before handing over donations.

Andrew said to avoid donation to unknown organizations, to be wary of any email appeals for help, and to check out charity’s credentials at give.org before donating.
