Basketball & Hockey Results From Full Conference & Invitational Schedule

Conference basketball games in both the Northern Lights and South Central Conferences, Nikiski Tip-off basketball tournament games, and North Star Conference hockey contests filled the local high school sports schedule.

Wednesday, January 9th: Game Results

Kenai Girls 17 – Colony 35

The Kenai girls played a solid first half; however were outscored 20-7 in the second half in a 35-17 loss to Colony.  Jennifer Solano lead Colony with 14 points; Cassie Ross topped the Kards with 6 points.

Kenai Boys 50 – Colony 72

The Kenai boys fell 72-50 to the Knights after playing even in the first quarter.  The Knights took over in the second half, outscoring Kenai 24-6 in the third quarter.  Wyatt Fitt scored 21 points for the Kards.


Thursday, January 10th: Game Results

SoHi Girls 33 – Colony 36  

The SoHi girls were handed their first loss of the season 36-33 by the Colony Knights.  Neither team lead by more than three points at any time in the game; the Knights taking the lead in the final minutes and the Stars missing a game-tying, three point shot at the buzzer.

SoHi Boys 46 – Colony 59 

The Knights built a nine-point lead at the half and the Stars closed to within three points; however, Colony pulled-away in the final minutes for a 59-46 NLC victory.

Thursday, January 10th: Game Results

Kenai 3 – Colony 3   

The Kardinals trialed 3-0 into the third period against Colony, before scoring three goals for a 3-3 tie with the Knights.  Kenai goals were scored by Austin Hibbert, and a pair of goals for TJ Wagoner.

SoHi 3 –  Wasilla 4

The Stars fell to Wasilla 4-3; SoHi battling back from a 4-1 deficit with a pair of third period goals.  SoHi goals were scored by Hunter Lott, Jacob O’Lena and Kenny Griffin.


Friday, January 11th: Game Results

Kenai 0 – Wasilla 9

SoHi 0 – Palmer 0

SoHi goalie Cody Harvey recorded a shutout for the Stars; however, SoHi failed to score on over 40 shots-on-goal and the contest between the Stars and Moose ends in a 0-0 tie.


Saturday, January 12th: Game Results

Kenai 1 – Palmer 0 OT 

TJ Wagoner scored the only goal of a 1-0 Kardinal overtime victory, a short-handed goal in the overtime period for a victory over the Palmer Moose.  For the week, Kenai records a 1-1-1 record against valley opponents.

SoHi 0 Colony 0 OT

For a second-straight game, SoHi goalie Cody Harvey shutout an opponent and did not record a victory; as the Stars and Knights tie 0-0 in North Star Conference play.  Also for a second day, the Stars threw over 40 shots on goal without managing to light the lamp.
