Avalanche Closes Seward Highway

An avalanche has now closed the Seward Highway at Milepost 98.5, which is north of the Girdwood Junction. The Department of Public Safety said no injuries were reported with this large avalanche that covers both lanes of travel on the Seward Highway. The Department of Transportation expects the Seward Highway to be closed at least six hours to clear the highway of the snow at Milepost 98.5, north of the Girdwood Junction.
