This week, we have been visiting with some local officials about the upcoming municipal election. One of those is Borough Assembly President Gary Knopp. We asked him who is he supporting for Borough Mayor.

As for the proposition questions, he is still undecided on the one-cent sales tax initiative for economic development. And, he remains undecided on the sales tax question. He does support a nine-member Assembly and School Board.
We also contacted Kenai Mayor Pat Porter and Soldotna Mayor Peter Micciche to find out who they were supporting. They chose not to disclose who they would be voting for on election day.
If Gary Knopp was undecided about the grocery tax exemption, why did he put the removal of the tax exemption on the ballot? It appears to me that he is looking for political cover.
