Assembly Fish Ordinance Sees Revived Interest

Two new Borough Assembly members have mentioned the Anadromous Streams Ordinance as one of the reasons they sought election.

Nikiski’s Wayne Ogle testified against the ordinance and now replaces Ray Tauriainen, who had opposed some measures in the ordinance.

For Soldotna, Dale Bagley replaces former President Linda Murphy, who was steadfastly in support of the ordinance.

We asked Bagley if he’s seeking a repeal of the ordinance…

Asm. Bagley(Soldotna): “You know, one of the things that I learned 19 years ago when I first ran for Soldotna City Council is you have to be able to count votes, and right now there isn’t the votes to repeal it. I got a few ideas to work on it. There’s been some of us talking about doing some different things to it, to change it a little bit, but as far as repeal, the votes aren’t there.”

Bagley and Ogle join current Assembly Members Kelly Wolf and Charlie Pierce in their opposition to the ordinance.
