Area Swimmers & Divers Make Podium At State Championships

Swimmers and Divers representing Kenai Central and Soldotna High competed in the 2013 ASAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Juneau over the weekend with one diver and one swimmer taking silver medals in state competition.

 

Alex Weeks from Soldotna High School finished second in the girls 50 Freestyle event, just :03 second from the gold medal.  Alex Weeks also finished third in the 100 Freestyle, picking up a medal in each of her individual events.  SoHi’s Rachel Henry, girls 100 Breaststroke, and SoHi’s Daniel McElroy, boys 50 Freestyle, each qualified to the finals and finished eighth overall.  The SoHi boys also finished eighth in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

 

Kenai Central’s Cole Gross scored a silver medal in the 1 Meter Diving event, earning 371.35 points.
