Area Runners Compete In Variety Of Events

There was no shortage of running and racing events for athletes on the solstice weekend.

 

Tsalteshi Trails Duathlon

The Tsalteshi Trails Duathlon men’s race was captured by Lars Arneson.  On Saturday, Arneson finished the five-kilometer run and 10-kilometer mountain bike in 42 minutes, 9 seconds  Eric Willets finished in second place with a time of 46:24 and Dante Petri took third, finishing in 46:57.  Edie MacPhail won the women’s race with a time of 57:01. Alice Anderson came in 7:34 later, finishing second.

 

Fun In The Midnight Sun race held in Nikiski

 Michael Stangel won the men’s three-mile race, finishing with a time of 22:33. Dan Carstens was second at 24:00, while Nathan Carstens was third at 24:41  In the women’s three-mile race, Lori Manion came in first with a time of 23:26. Bethany Carstens was second at 26:24, while Kali Rutka came in third at 28:33.  In the five-mile race, Keith MacPhail was the men’s winner with a time of 31:31, while Michael Stangel was second at 35:33 and Adam Parrish was third at 38:36.  The women’s winner was Satorene Jackson at 38:37. Shannon Bird was second at 49:40, while Debbie Carstens was third at 49:49
