Applications Closing for Trooper Academy

Applications for the Soldotna Trooper’s Citizens Academy are closing in less than an hour. Sue Macholz with the Soldotna Trooper Post said applications will be accepted by fax (907-262-2889), email (suzanne.macholz@alaska.gov), or hand-delivery up until 4:30pm today.

Macholz: “No, we don’t have a lot of empty space, but we’re still accepting applications. We’re reviewing them. We’re trying to get a range of different types of folks to attend the academy.”

Macholz said she’s seen variety applications received so far, with ages ranging from 18 to 67.

Macholz: “With the TV the way it is, there’s a lot of interest in law enforcement, and the public response has been overwhelming.”

The academy will be held on Wednesday nights at 6pm from March 13, 2013 to May 22, 2013 and include both classroom learning and hands-on experiences.

Applications can be picked up and dropped off at the Alaska State Trooper post located on K-Beach Road in Soldotna or found on the AST Public Information Office website.
