ANWR Plan Denied

Governor Sean Parnell is headed back to the drawing board after the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service had rejected the State’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) Exploration Plan.

Gov. Parnell: “We’ve just gotten word from the Secretary of the Interior that she has declined our exploration proposal, and we intend to evaluate options going forward and so I do appreciate Congressman Young stepping forward to try to get federal support for that, because again, that’s about jobs and opportunities for Alaskans.”

However, the Governor said he’s not done fighting…

Gov. Parnell: “Oh no. No, no, no. We’re going to continue working. That oil belongs to Alaskans and to all of America. We need to balance the interests of the environment with the value of that resource to Americans, and everything needs to be on the table. Not just one resource versus another.”
