Anti “Frankenfish” Resolution Passes State Legislature

The state senate yesterday, unanimously passed, House Joint Resolution 5.

HJR 5, primarily sponsored by Representative Geran Tarr of Anchorage opposes the FDA’s preliminary finding related to genetically engineered salmon and opposes the production of genetically engineered salmon.

The resolution also urges the FDA to consider further examination of genetically engineered salmon, as well as, proposing that if AquaBounty’s petition is approved, that its product should be labeled as “genetically modified.”
