The Alaska Redistricting Board has published three draft plans, which can be viewed at: Alaska Redistricting Drafts.
Two of the plans – A and B – are similar in creating one large northern peninsula senate district, though they differ in how Nikiski would be joined to southern portions of Anchorage. In those plans, Kenai and Soldotna join southern peninsula communities for the second district, which is the same as the current plan.
Plan D completely changes that configuration, joining the southern peninsula with Kodiak, similar to previous plans, moving Nikiski, Kenai and Soldotna into one region.
The 2012 plan brought South Anchorage Senator Cathy Giessel to the Peninsula, from her original electorate of South Anchorage. It appears likely that would change under Plans B and D.
